Star Trek (2009)
Starring Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, and Zoe Saldana
Directed by J.J. Abrams
Rated PG-13 for sci-fi action and violence and brief sexual content
2 hour, 7 minutes
Amidst all the documentaries and artistic masterpieces out there, it is possible to forget how much fun a movie can be. This movie helped me remember. With its attractive cast, brilliant special effects, exciting storyline, and dramatic score, this movie had me hooked from the outset. Add to that the fact that each of the characters was a terrific fit (both in looks and personality) for their later lives in the classic television series and this movie moves to rarefied air (space?) Thank goodness I was able to watch this movie so quickly after Wolverine so I could wash the bad prequel taste out of my mouth. Star Trek is one of the best (and most fun) movies I have seen in years.
Grade: A
It really was a great movie. I thought it brought back a lot of the ‘feel’ of the Original Series, which is what made Star Trek great. This movie completely revitalized the series, especially after the weaker fares.
