Okay, we all remember the “incident” that got the lead actor in trouble. But do you remember what made him famous? It was this movie, a delightfully childish quest for a lost bike that marked the directorial debut of Tim Burton. Paired with an inventive score by Danny Elfman (The Simpsons Movie), the initial scenes in Pee Wees magical house are pure gold and you just wish it could continue for the whole movie. Of course it doesn’t, and other than the “Tequila” dance the rest of the movie is quite average. Still, the main character’s colorful and quotable persona coupled with Burton’s creativity make this a classic. If you haven’t seen it for a while, it’s definitely worth a rent.
